'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Galbraith continues battle with City.

Ethan Galbraith grins broadly as he recalls the nail-biting final moments of his team's remarkable turnaround win against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. The game culminated with Galbraith briefly donning a supporter's spectacles amid the pitch-side pile-on.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith cracked the upright with a long-range strike from 25 yards, and Cameron Burgess promptly converted the loose ball before sprinting toward the East Stand to mark the goal, with supporters mobbing the players.

Remarkable Recovery

This completed an unbelievable recovery given the team had found themselves down 2-0 midway through the latter period. During the euphoria, there was some unintended consequences. The midfielder recalled, "There was a spectator shouting out and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we spotted the glasses. It was a funny incident putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're people, too, so to have a joke with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

That win earned a upcoming game at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith pushed hard at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with his former club in February. He had arguably the best view when Orient took the lead in stunning style, with Jamie Donley's volley from about way out going in via the crossbar and the City goalkeeper. It seems unfair that it was recorded as an own goal.

"You would have wished they would've given it to him for attempting the shot from that range," says Galbraith, who started in midfield before shifting to right flank after the team changed tactics. That meant competing with Jack Grealish, with whom he traded tops, and the attacker was among the opposition who praised the way his former team attacked the game.

City's Quality

"Fitness-wise they are very good but even the fundamentals and simple things, they can just perform consistently," he explains. "It appears that they complete every delivery and they are adept at manage and take the sting out of a game. You can think you're holding your own and then without warning they will just fizz a pass past your midfield without you even spotting it. You have to be alert throughout of the game. It requires a strong mentality and attention just to stay in the game."

Swansea Move

The club pushed to sign Galbraith in January and fought off rivals to secure him in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He made a name as a fans' favourite across two seasons at his former club and has quickly done the same in south Wales. At his previous team he joined forces once more with Richie Wellens, who four years ago gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in senior football on loan at a League One side from Old Trafford. Then came a spell at fourth-tier Salford City, before he departed Old Trafford.

Development Path

"I was probably a slightly green going into senior level. I think numerous professionals would say youth team games is completely distinct. Sometimes it appears play is circulated without much intensity. There are limited physical contests. Once you start playing professional matches you have to adjust fast."

National Team Success

He has shown that maturation for his team and nation, shining for his national side, who remain in contention for the international competition next summer via the playoffs and for whom he has started the recent fixtures, including two matches games against a football powerhouse. His former international manager, Galbraith's former international manager, gave him the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "creative maestro" given how he manipulates the ball and his knack for a decisive through ball.

Starting Out

This marks a remarkable path for the player from the Queens Park estate in Glengormley, just outside Northern Ireland's main city, who grew up watching his father, the elder Galbraith, also a midfielder, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Red Devils Debut

The player's sole appearance for the Red Devils came in Kazakhstan in 2019, a Europa League trip to the host city, where they competed on an plastic turf and the stadium roof was shut owing to the weather of bitter cold. "That proved to be a extended travel and it was cold out there," he comments, grinning. "The days leading up, the academy prospects practiced as a group, so that assisted our preparation. Just to accompany the senior squad and earn some playing time at the end was incredible."

Departing Old Trafford

What was the challenge was it to depart Manchester United, the club he signed from his boyhood team aged a teenager? "The decision proved relatively straightforward, because I got to the stage where I realized I couldn't establish myself at the senior squad. I'm hugely grateful for the time I spent there but it became apparent where I believed I had to take a different path, move to a lower level and play professional soccer. Now I'm gradually working my way back up."

New Environment

This occurs during the middle of the day at the club's training ground but Galbraith has somewhere to be at late afternoon: a driving theory test, another step towards getting on the road. Prior to relocating to his new neighborhood, the young professional was a regular in Swansea's so-called fun bus, a small coach driven by team personnel, Pete and Howard, which transports players to and from training and matches.

"My companions include the Portuguese player, another squad member, Malick Yalcouyé – a former passenger used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's nice to interact with the teammates but I'm aiming to be the following person out of the minibus and on the road. His teammate enjoys practical jokes; he's always up to all sorts."

Fan Interactions

When he represented Leyton Orient, Galbraith would mix with fans on London's Central line after starting his journey at Brentwood. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
