Approximately 50 automobiles have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Cars, walls and postal boxes were defaced, occasionally with swastikas, they reported in a official communication.
Police say they were contacted late on Wednesday evening, when a individual discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored fluid.
The substance had been placed in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Officers then located many other marked vehicles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under regulations outlawing the public display of Nazi symbols.
Officials state early analysis show the substance was most likely blood from a person.
"At present there remains no indication as to its origin; investigators are not yet informed of any harm in association with the incident," they added.
City officials announced they were trying "to resolve the case" and have requested to the community for information.
A high-ranking political figure commented the incident rendered him speechless and had to be addressed rapidly.
"This event hits the core of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the far-right violent incident in 2020," he wrote on social media, recalling the killing of nine individuals by a shooter focusing on residents of immigrant origin in 2020.
